“Home is not a place. It is the people who make you feel you belong.”

If 2023 expanded our horizons, 2024 deepened our roots.

The year began with Barir Khamkheyal on 3rd and 4th February, an intimate in-house lifestyle exhibition Khamkheyal combined with an open mic called “অ-মাইক.” Since it was examination season, we chose a quieter format without microphones, proving once again that meaningful conversations never need loud voices. The warmth of that gathering reminded us why our sealdah home would always remain the heart of Khamkheyal.

On 17th March, Khelar Chhole returned at the Kutchina Foundation, Lake View Road, bringing another unforgettable day of games, learning, creativity, and laughter for children. Every smiling face reminded us that joy itself can be one of the most beautiful forms of community building.

Around the same time, we introduced Shari Marmo, a humble initiative to collect sarees for women in rural communities. It was a small effort, but one that reflected our belief that dignity and care can often be expressed through the simplest gestures.

The biggest milestone of the year arrived from 5th to 7th April with the first edition of Art-e-Boishakh at Bimala Sadan in North Kolkata.

For years, lifestyle exhibitions were often associated with South Kolkata. We wanted to challenge that perception. The overwhelming response proved that creativity has no geographical boundaries. Artists, entrepreneurs, and visitors embraced the event with immense love, and for the first time, many well-known personalities from the cultural world visited Khamkheyal and experienced our journey firsthand.

The spirit of giving continued on 23rd June with another Blood Donation Camp Muhurta “রক্ত থাক সম্প্রীতিতে“at Amiya School of Photography, strengthening a tradition that had become an important part of our identity.

In July 2024, Khamkheyal organized ‘Golpogachha O Boi’—an intimate evening where stories, books, and conversations brought together readers, writers, and dreamers under one roof. More than just an event, it celebrated the timeless joy of literature and the beautiful connections that bloom through shared stories.

From 13th to 15th September, Art & Autumn returned once again with beloved homegrown brands, engaging performances, and heartfelt Open Mic sessions. The event continued to grow while retaining the warmth that had always made it special.

As the year drew to a close, we introduced another intimate gathering—Art & Adda. Unlike a conventional exhibition, it became a space for conversations around photography, drawing, stories, and creativity. It reminded us that art is not only something we display; it is something we share.

By the end of 2024, one thing had become beautifully clear.

Khamkheyal was no longer defined by exhibitions alone.

It had become a community where artists encouraged one another, entrepreneurs found confidence, volunteers discovered purpose, and visitors returned not only for the events but for the feeling of belonging.

The family had grown.

And so had the dream.
